Welcome!
I am so excited to start this site! I’ve been wanting to do this for a while. I want this to be an interactive site where people can ask me their skin care and makeup/color cosmetics/glamor technique questions, and I’ll do my best to provide the answer!
Site Layout
- Articles I write will be posted in my blog on the home page. To find a specific topic you can do a search by using the search bar at the top right of the website, or just click on one of the categories at the top of the right-hand column.
- For information about the site and me, go to about. (No, wait, you’re already here!)
- The Qs page is where you can ask questions, give ideas, concerns, stuff like that. Also, if you have a fantastic tip you want to share, post it for everyone here.
- I also have some pretty cool links you can check out. They’re pretty much not related to this site, but I like them. You’ll find them to the right under “Free”, “Funny”, “Health & Wellness”, and “Healthy Thoughts”. Have fun.
- For information about the Amazing Grass products that I mention from time to time go to my Amazing Health page, or click this link to go to their site.
- And oh yeah, check out my healthy thoughts! page for more information about some very cool Create Your Life and Happiness e-course programs.

About me
I’m awesome!
…
Oh, you want to know more! You asked for it! Er, not really, but still!!
Skin care and makeup. All right, let’s start with the obvious. I’m obviously obsessed with skin care and makeup. I’ve found it’s a good obsession to have. It does wonders for my skin, and my friends’ skin! Giving facials and makeovers is such a rewarding experience. Especially when the women who come in for consultations slouching and frowning, leave smiling and tell me, “I’m so glad you called me.”
College. I graduated from the University of Utah in May 2007, with my B.S. in Mathematics, emphasis in scientific computing and a minor in Chemistry. It was a lot of work to finish, and it’s almost all worth it for the little diploma they (FINALLY!) sent me in the mail. What have I done with my degree you ask? Helped my ex-boyfriend pass probability 5010, my little sister to a 4 on her AP Calculus BC test, my brother-in-law through Business Statistics, and saved the world last weekend. I’m toying with the idea of going back (more school??) and getting my Ph.D. in math. I think though that I haven’t quite gone that crazy and I’ll stick to where I’m at for now. All my friends who’ve decided to continue on to graduate school in mathematics are not enjoying their time there. I really want to make sure I am mentally and physically ready to withstand the six tortuous years it takes to get a Ph.D. in math before willingly walking into the slaughter. I have much more preparing to do.
Soccer. I play a lot of soccer. My sister even gave me a pillow case that says “Eat, breathe, sleep, Soccer!” I played a year of soccer at Rose-Hulman, but after a stupid overuse injury and developing tendinitis in my right foot, I decided to skip the rest of my college competitive years so I could walk for the rest of my life. I’m not sure what I was thinking. I would LOVE to play on an amateur women’s soccer team. Did you hear? They’re suppose to starting a new professional women’s soccer league! That would be a dream!
Writing. I do a lot of writing as well. I actually enjoy editing more though, and I’m good at it. I get lots of practice on my own pieces. I just really enjoy making things better. (Maybe that’s where my skin care & makeup fetish comes from??) It gets a little crazy sometimes and I have to remind myself that good is good enough! But better is always… better… I want to write a book and get it published or even have an eBook… Maybe both. It probably won’t be on cosmetics though. It’ll be about some random topic that I’ll pull from the cosmos, like stars and unicorns and lipstick. I like stars. They’re pretty.
My skin care and make up obsession began as…
I grew up with a mom and two sisters that knew nothing about proper skin care, let alone makeup! Unfortunately for me, I didn’t inherit their perfectly flawless skin, but a moderate case of acne that my parents didn’t feel needed caring for. So, I read everything I could on the subject. I experimented with skin care trying to find the solution to my insanely combination skin. I tried wearing makeup, but it never turned out quite right. I often made myself look worse! Heaven knows I didn’t know how to pick out a foundation, eye shadow, or lipstick, let alone how to apply it!
Finally, my senior year of high school, my sister had a facial. I tried the product and thought, “This could actually work for my skin!” and bought it right then and there and have been using it ever since. You’d never know that at one point I was so self-conscious and shy about my skin and myself that I wouldn’t even talk to the guy I knew had a crush on me!
I am self-educated skin care and makeup expert. I attend advanced glamor technique seminars, read the best books on the subject, and I have spent hundreds of hours giving consultations for skin care and makeup, not to mention the advice I’ve given to people in general. I figured I was doing things right when someone told me, “You’re the expert.”
If you’re looking for a good makeup book, my all-time favorite book on that subject is Makeup Makeovers, by Robert Jones, an internationally known makeup artist and best-seller. He even personally signed mine! Every year I attend his seminar in Salt Lake City, UT. I’ve now gone three years and though he covers basically the same topics every year, there is always something new that I learn. I’m in love with Robert Jones, and I love the way he does makeup: natural, but miraculous! Not overdone and dead looking. Plus all his techniques are hygienic. I know of other makeup artists that sacrifice good health for a look. Are you serious? That’s ridiculous. Anyway, Robert Jones has a great sense of humor and ability to explain how to apply makeup in an understandable format. His events are always a lot of fun! I also really really want to get his beauté occasions : bridal beauty and beyond. Then, I also want Makeup Makeovers Weddings (regular & Limited Edition) books, and his beauté made simple DVD, and (okay, I want all his stuff) his Limited Edition Makeup Makeovers. I’ve had all his training on these things, but it’s always nice to have a book to reference!
Why this site
I wanted to get into the blogging scene but didn’t want to blog about my personal life 24/7. That would be called a journal. I already have one of those, and that’s for my eyes only. (No offense intended to other bloggers who blog solely about their own lives. I have family and friends that do that and I enjoy their blogs. It’s just not my thing.)
Mostly though, I put this site up for you because when I was desperately searching for solutions to my skin care needs and looking for glamor techniques I couldn’t find anything good out there. Plus I found skin care an all time elusive category! Not only that, but so called “experts” on the subject often give incorrect advice! YIKES! I hope my years of experience and knowledge from books, makeup artists, and knowledge I’ve gathered from real experts will help you finally find a solution to your skin care and glamor needs.
Plus, I think my site looks pretty neat, and my mom thinks it does too…. Or she would if I showed it to her
Oh, and by the way, I think you’re awesome too.
