it’s time to switch!

Just follow these simple steps: 1) Apply a nickel size amount of the Hand Softener all over your hands. Rub in especially dry spots. 2) Apply one or two pumps of the Satin Smoothie. You can add water to foam it up, or do it dry for extra exfoliation. 3) Rinse hands completely and pat dry. 4) Apply the Satin Hand Cream. It will hydrate your hands for up to 24 hours and won’t make them feel greasy either! (Seriously, I can even play my violin right after applying the cream!)

You can use it as often as you need it (though I wouldn’t use it more than two or three times a day), and I’ll sometimes even do it on my feet.

Other winter skin product essentials in my beauty kit include:
Satin Lips Set (No more dry, cracked, and bleeding lips either!)
For the face add any of Mary Kay’s extra hydration products to your normal moisturizer. For dry skin: Intense Moisturizing Cream. For very dry skin: Extra Emollient Night Cream (which should only be used at night.) For combination/oily skin and breakout prone skin: Oil-Free Hydrating Gel (Keeping your skin properly hydrated through the winter will prevent breakouts!)

All of these products are use as you need them, and will make your winter much more enjoyable!

1. Keep your regular 5-step skin care that works, but add a supplement that has vitamins in it (preferably vitamin c, e, or k) to your regimen. I really like Mary Kay’s Replenishing Serum + C.
2. If you are using acne treatment products and you notice it isn’t working as well as it use to, go off them for a week to give your skin a break. If you are concerned about breakouts during this week off, then use a different active ingredient to fight off breakouts during this period. For instance, if you use benzoyl peroxide regularly but not salicylic acid, go off the peroxide for a week and try the salicylic acid, and visa versa. If you’re like me and use both, then what I did during my week off I used Tea Tree essential oil by mixing a drop in my regular (non-medicated) moisturizer. It didn’t work as well for me as my regular stuff, but after the week when I went back to my regular stuff they worked a lot better!

Now aren’t you glad you didn’t toss your old regimen?!

Step Two: Surprise!! Is to curl!  Using your crimp curler, start at the base of your eyelashes and press down for 1-2 seconds.  Then move the crimp curler up the lashes two or three more times ending at the tips of your lashes, each time pressing down for 1-2 seconds.  This will give you a nice even curl from base to tip.

Step Three: Holding the brush horizontally, apply the mascara to your lashes starting at the base.  Shimmy the brush horizontally as you work your way to the tips.  Shimmying the brush horizontally as you work your way to the tips not only prevents clumping but also coats the lashes from all sides.

Step Four: Allow a minute or so for lashes to dry (apply your blush, or whatever).

Step Five: Holding the brush vertically, apply the mascara to one lash at a time starting at the base and moving up to the tip.  This ensures that each eye lash coated from base to tip and gives the appearance of longer more beautiful lashes.

Step six and onward: Always allowing lashes to dry between layers, repeat steps three and five for desired effect.  The more layers you do the thicker and/or longer lashes will appear.  My lashes can’t hold up more than four layers without uncurling, but do whatever works best for you.  Oh, and with all those layers, make sure you take off all that mascara before bed with the best oil-free eye makeup remover, which in my personal opinion is Mary Kay’s!

I have a secret to tell you, you are beautiful!!  You may not believe it now, but your beauty is there just waiting to burst through the layers of unbelief, the shield of negativity you’ve covered yourself with.  Loiuse Hay says to use this affirmation, “I am beautiful and loved by those around me.”  Try it!!  See how people react to you differently?  See how you respond to people differently??

Contouring and highlighting techniques don’t interfere with each other.  However warming and highlighting do as some of the application places are the same.  So, you’ll have to decide which you want to do more: highlight or warm.  Don’t do both they’ll just cancel each other out.
